Risk Assessment

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Staff from Currumbin Valley Environmental Education Centre (a campus of Tallebudgera Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre​) are committed to providing and maintaining a safe learning environment for each and every participant involved in programs conducted at our two campuses. We provide a safe working environment for all staff employed by or visitors of the centre. Risk management procedures at the Currumbin Valley Environmental Education Centre (CVEEC) are designed to reflect the policies and procedures of the Queensland Department of Education, as well as c​urrent industry practices, relevant government Acts and the impacts of various common law rulings.

A centre based Work Place Health and Safety Committee assists the Principal in identifying hazards and associated risks; in analysing and evaluating each risk, by proposing appropriate controls for treating risks, and in monitoring and reviewing outcomes of this risk management process. Our Centre operates on the principle that risk management is a process of determining an acceptable level for each identified risk and then implementing appropriate controls to maintain the risks at acceptable levels.

Staff members at the centre have worked collaboratively on the design and implementation of a thorough Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment (CARA) process that includes:

• Ongoing and continuous assessment of hazards and risks.

• The design and subsequent application of standard operating procedures, including priority safety procedures for risk management.

• Regular review of procedures, maintenance schedules and safety assessments.

• Detailed staff training, accreditation and induction programs.
