At Currumbin Valley Environmental Education Centre, we’re incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by some of the most spectacular natural environments in South East Queensland. Our setting provides endless opportunities for students to connect with nature, explore diverse ecosystems and experience meaningful learning in the outdoors.

A natural classroom on our doorstep

Nestled in the heart of the lush Currumbin Valley, our centre sits alongside the tranquil Currumbin Creek, surrounded by towering rainforest trees and vibrant native gardens. Just beyond our gates lies the iconic Currumbin Rock Pools, a favourite local destination and an inspiring setting for students to experience the beauty of our freshwater environments right on our doorstep.

The sights and sounds of nature, from the calls of native birds to the gentle flow of the creek, provide the perfect backdrop for outdoor exploration and connection with place.

The Cougals and beyond

A short drive up the valley brings us to the Cougal Cascades and Mount Cougal, part of the breathtaking Springbrook National Park. These remarkable landscapes feature rainforest, waterfalls and unique geological formations that offer insight into the area’s natural and cultural heritage.

These sites are incorporated into a number of our programs, allowing students to observe rainforest environments firsthand and develop an appreciation for the rich biodiversity and natural beauty of the Currumbin Valley.

Our gardens and bush tucker spaces

Within our grounds, vibrant gardens flourish with a mix of native species and seasonal bush tucker plants. These spaces provide sensory and educational experiences, encouraging students to discover the variety of plants that grow in our region and learn about their ecological roles and cultural significance.

We also use produce from our bush tucker gardens in our seasonal menus, helping students make the connection between the environment, food, and sustainability.

Purpose-built outdoor learning spaces

Our centre features purpose-built outdoor classrooms and shaded gathering areas that make the most of our natural surroundings. These spaces are designed to encourage curiosity, collaboration and reflection whether students are participating in team challenges, exploring the rainforest or simply taking in the beauty of the valley.
