Travelling through Time is a day program that enrols the students as Time Travellers. Students use their 'Time Travellers Passport' to discover the significance of Jellurgal over thousands of years. The passport leads the students through story – First Nations and other, artefacts, photographic evidence, exploration, and play that will aide them in forming their idea of the significance of Jellurgal (Burleigh Headland).
Throughout the day, students will be encouraged to experience history by engaging with First Nations cultures and stories of Country, observing Jellurgal and its visitors in the present, while starting to imagine a positive future for this significant landmark.
Outdoor Learning Curriculum Connections
Students will be encouraged to step into natural environments that offers safe and rewarding challenges, strengthening connections with self, others and the living world. They will utilise some of the early skills and processes required to become more independent and resilient in outdoor environments. Experiential and place-responsive learning supports the development of General Capabilities including Personal and Social Capabilities, Intercultural Understanding, Critical and Creative Thinking, and the Cross Curriculum Priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures, and Sustainability.
